Ash Field works to a written running order, so the bridal party is finished in sequence and you are photographed in the light you planned for.

The morning, mapped
A running order you can hand to anyone.
Every booking is planned backwards from the time you need to be in the car. This is how a five-hour morning usually falls for a bride and three others.

Arrival and set-up
We take the window with the most daylight, lay the kit out on a covered table and confirm the order with whoever is holding the schedule. Fifteen minutes, no fuss.

Party first, bride second
Bridesmaids and mothers go first while the room is still quiet. Each face is forty minutes. Anyone who is also having hair moves between chairs rather than waiting.

Bride in the chair
Ninety minutes, unrushed, with skin prep timed so nothing is still settling when we start base. Photographers usually want this window — we work around them rather than pausing.

Veil, dress, and the checking pass
Makeup is finished before the dress goes on, then checked again after. Lip and lashes are set last so nothing transfers onto the neckline.

Handover
You keep a small touch-up tin: your exact lip, blotting papers and a powder matched on the day. We show one person how to use it, usually the person least likely to cry.
If the ceremony is early, everything shifts earlier — a 6:00 arrival is common and costs nothing extra. Getting-ready rooms with only overhead light are worth telling us about in advance.

Finish & light
Pick a finish for the room you will actually stand in.
Skin finish is a lighting decision more than a taste decision. These are the three we work between, and where each one holds up.
Soft satin
For mixed daylight
A skin-like base with powder only where it is needed. The safest choice for a barn or marquee where you move between bright doorways and shade all afternoon.
Luminous
For grey days and gardens
Built on prep rather than highlighter, so it reads as good skin in flat overcast light and does not flare under a photographer's flash.
Defined matte
For evening and film
More structure through the eye and a blotted lip that survives a first dance. Chosen when the ceremony is late or the reception is lit warmly and low.

What we bring, and what to do in the fortnight before.
Two weeks out, not two days
Any facial, new acid or brow reshape wants a fortnight to settle. Book the last wax or thread at least five days before the wedding, and keep exfoliation gentle in the final week.
Shade range
The kit carries deep and neutral-olive shades as standard, not as a special request, and undertone is matched along the jaw in daylight rather than under a bulb.
Sensitive and reactive skin
Fragrance-free bases, a separate clean set of brushes and patch testing at the trial. Tell us about rosacea, eczema or recent treatment when you enquire so the trial is planned around it.
Long-wear, honestly
Nothing survives twelve hours untouched. We build in layers that can be blotted and pressed back rather than reapplied, which is why the touch-up tin holds powder and paper, not a second foundation.
Bring to the trial
A photo of the dress neckline, two images you like, one you dislike, and your usual everyday makeup. Comfort with your own face matters more than any reference picture.
Hygiene
Disposable applicators for lip and mascara, brushes washed between faces, and a wipe-down of the chair and table before we leave the room to you.

How far will you travel?
Anywhere within about an hour of the studio at no extra cost. Further is welcome and quoted as a flat travel figure before you book — if the start time would mean leaving before 4:30, an overnight stay near the venue is added instead, and you will see that number in writing first.
How early can you start?
A 6:00 arrival is routine and does not carry a surcharge. What matters more than the hour is the number of faces: five people cannot be finished properly in two hours, so either the start moves earlier or a second artist joins.
Do I have to have a trial?
For the bride, yes — it is included in the bride-and-party booking and it is where the running order and product list come from. For bridesmaids and mothers it is optional and most skip it; we plan a short consultation into their forty minutes on the day instead.
What if I change my mind after the trial?
That happens often and it is fine. Send a note any time up to two weeks before the wedding and we adjust the plan — a lighter base, a different lip, lashes added or dropped. A second full trial is charged at the trial rate if you want to sit down and try it again properly.
How many people can you make up in one morning?
One artist comfortably covers the bride plus four others. Above that, a second artist is added automatically rather than compressing each appointment, because the alternative is finishing someone at speed and it shows in photographs.
What happens if I cry, or if it is hay fever season?
Waterproof mascara and a sealed liner on anyone who expects tears, and lashes that will not lift if the eye waters. For summer weddings, take your antihistamine the night before as well as the morning, and tell us at the trial so we set the under-eye more firmly.
Should hair or makeup go first?
Whichever your hair stylist prefers, as long as we know a fortnight out. Where a veil or comb is being fitted, makeup is finished first and checked again after the veil is in, so nothing is smudged during the fitting.
What if our date moves?
Tell us as soon as you know. If the new date is free it simply moves across and the trial stands. If it is not, we will say so straight away rather than holding you, and pass on two artists whose work sits close to ours.
